Q: Do I need to register in advance or can I get tickets for Ecstatic Dance? A: No. Just come and pay at the door.
Q: I can’t make it on time. Can I come later? A: You can come & leave anytime. On Thursday: please don’t enter the dance hall from 19:50-20:00 when we tune in during opening circle. Our recommendation: Arrive no later than 19:30. That way you have time to change clothes, drink a tea, give a hug, and participate in opening circle. Optional: Enjoy a 45 min movement warm-up from 19-19:45.
On Sunday morning: Arrive around 10.40am to change clothes, drink a tea, give a hug, and participate in opening circle. Come and leave anytime -and be mindful of what's going on around you, i.e. do so quietly during opening circle at 10.50am or Sound healing at 2pm. Optional: Enjoy a 50 min yoga class or movement warm-up from 11-11.50am.
Q: Do I need experience for Ecstatic Dance? I have never done it before! A: You don’t need any experience. Just come with a fresh mind and an open heart. It is a free-form dance with facilitation only during opening and closing circles.
Q: What kind of clothes should I wear for Ecstatic Dance? A: Bring comfortable clothes in which you can move freely.
Q: What kind of music will be played at Ecstatic Dance? A: We always have top quality Ecstatic Dance DJs who tune into the dancers needs. Styles vary from house, world music, bass music, afro, urban, glitch, tribal trap. Even singer-songwriter, pop and classical can be heard in some moments.
Q: Is Ecstatic Dance a safe space for me to dance freely? A: We always explain our guidelines in the beginning: No talking on the dance floor & respecting personal space. We explain how to approach with awareness if you want to dance with someone (make eye contact, tune into body movements), and we show how to end a dance with gratitude (hands in front of heart).
Q: Can I bring my child to Ecstatic Dance? A: Thursday: You can bring your teenage child 16 and older. Please take care of your child. Sunday: You can bring all children -baby to teenage! There should be one attentive adult with any child at all times. Try to keep volume down during quiet moments (opening circle & sound healing).
Q: I forgot something. How can I get it back? A. Come to the next dance and look in our lost & found box.
Q: Do you serve drinks at Ecstatic Dance? A: Help yourself to free tea & water. You can purchase ceremonial cacao drinks on Thursdays.
Q: Is Ecstatic Dance „spiritual“? A: We come together in a circle, dance barefoot, and move energy on the dancefloor to finest tracks mixed by top DJs. If that’s „spiritual“ for you, then we are ‚spiritual“. If „spiritual“ for you means believing in an mystic idea or a deity, following a doctrine or strict rules, then, no, Ecstatic Dance is not spiritual.
Q: I am a DJ, how can apply to play at Ecstatic Dance Berlin? A: Please send us a live recorded DJ mix of an Ecstatic Dance you where you played. E-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
